20min Bericht über die Wasserqualität vor Rio

Olympic Testevent Rio de Janeiro

South American Championship ended yesterday. It was a good warm-up for the olympic test event beginning in 2 days. The conditions in the Guanabara are very challenging with variable current and mostly light and shifty winds. we will need some time learning how to sail here.
Today we had a day off, which we used to do some touristic action visiting the sugar loaf. Tomorrow we will have measurements. racing starts on monday.

European Championship Athens 10 - 16 July

So finally on the way back home! We are very happy that this championship is over for us. It was probably one of the worst performances we delivered in the past years. 
The disqualification in the first race (we were to early on the starting line for hafl a secound!), killed already our regatta. We had to be more passive on the starting line, but this didn't go well and the light wind was not to our favour.

Anyway, now it' s time to remember the good points and to focus on the next weeks. Next destination will be the Rio Testevent from the 26.7- 10.8.

End 1st training session in Santander

We just finished the first training session 2014 in Santander. 10 days of training with of lot of different wind conditions.
We worked with other boats on speed and did some races on the different sailing areas we will use during the World Championship next september.
We gain more experience about this very particular sailing place. And we had some epic strong wind moments: breaking the mast on down-wind: The video.

The days were long and exhausting with sailing, physical work and few surf sessions.

We were sailing the last 20 days, first in Riva del Garda and this training camp with only 2 days off. We will have now 10 days at home  and then we will go back to Santander for an other training camp with a coach regatta in the middle.

Santander

Since tuesday we are back in Santander to begin our preparation for the 470 World Championship in september which is also the first possibility to qualify Switzerland for the Olympics Games.

The two first day of training were windy, around 18 nds. And as usual for here waves were quite big!

We are here for 9 more days and we will do 3 more training session before the World championship.

We use this training in Santander to test some material that's why we bring our two boats.

Hyères the end

That wasn't the way we wanted to end the last Worldcup of the year. With a 22 and 23 the last day we finished 19th overall. We had some very good starts and first upwinds during the finals, but we struggled over the whole week with our speed. Now it's time to analyse, recover and refocus for the next weeks. Next event is the Europacup in Riva del Garda in one week.

It wasn't the start into the first day of racing we expected. After a good first race we did two bad ones. We couldn't find the good strategy today. Tomorrow is another day and we need to fight back!

Worldcup Palma, the end

Yesterday we sailed 3 final races in very taff conditions. 

It was a day with big up and downs for us. At the end we miss the medal race for 10 points, finishing 14th overall. 

After some difficult month we are happy in many points, but we also know, what we have to work on. We take the ferry back home tonight. We have one week of holidays. Next event WC Hyeres!

WC Palma Day 2

After a long day waiting ashore for some wind, we could sail 2 races in very shifty and unstable winds in the afternoon. Miami Worldcup Day 1

North American Champioship Miami

We sailed 3 races in very light winds today. We had a nice start in the first race, but rounding the top mark in 1st place we were listed bfd with about 10 other boats!
We lost the rhythm for the next two races, and sailed really bad. We finish the regatta 8.
We have some things to work on this week, to be ready for the worldcup starting in 1 week!

North American Championship Miami Day 1

3 Races in shifty and light winds on the first day of racing. We started the day with a bad result in the first race, but we improved in the 2nd and 3rd one which we could win. Tomorrow 3 more races scheduled. Hopefully its getting warmer. We were freezing today in only 20 degrees! Results

News from Miami

We are training in Miami for 1 Week now. The sailing conditions were amazing! We had light airs the first days and yesterday some strong wind around 25knts. Today is our day off. From Saturday to monday we are participating at the North American Championship. Follow the results here
